Albarino Grape Harvest 2026

The Oswald Vineyard Albarino Grape Harvest of 2026 was earlier than normal. With two late freezes, the grape crop throughout the vineyard is much smaller.

This means that the mature vines are able to ripen the fruit earlier than normal. Mainly because, there is less fruit to ripen.

To give you and idea, last year (2025), we harvested 26 tons across four acres of Albarino grapes. This year, 2026, we harvested two tons!

Albarino grape harvest began early morning using our Pellenc 4560 multi-functional machine. The Pellenc is a French made machine. It rides over the vine rows and shakes the vines causing the ripe grapes to fall. The ripe grapes are caught by cups in the machine that carry them to the onboard bins.

The Pellenc is an impressive machine. Because it is riding high, it is easy to spot anywhere in the vineyard.

You can see the Albarino grape clusters hanging on the vine before harvesting.

For the Albarino Harvest 2026, as with any harvest, the ripe fruit is harvested leaving empty grape “rachis” where the grapes hung.

It is always amazing to see just how clean the harvester picks the vines. The ripe grapes are removed leaving behind those that are not as ripe.

Below, you can see the rachises and the smaller unripe berries that were not harvested.

The Oswald Vineyard Albarino grapes from this harvest, were sold to McPherson Cellars in Lubbock, Texas. We look forward to enjoying the great wine they make from our grapes!
